At FD we are committed to excellence – and this extends right across our employee pool. We are delighted to once again celebrate in the success of the #FDFamily with Rebecca Kelly, Kx Technical Evangelist being named ‘Tech Evangelist of the Year’ at this year’s Women in IT Awards – New York.

The Women in IT Awards, now in their third year, recognize the dedication and efforts of women and allies in the tech community and aim to redress the gender imbalance by showcasing the outstanding achievements of women in the sector. Announced during a virtual awards ceremony held on October 29th, the ‘Tech Evangelist of the Year’ award recognises an individual who has ‘championed the use of technology within an organisation, and successfully managed to communicate its merits to a wider audience and then established it as a technical standard.’

Since joining in 2013 Rebecca has proven pivotal in advancing the growth of Kx technology within new markets. Originally joining as a kdb+ developer and solutions architect based in the London office, Rebecca went on to complete a Masters in Machine learning before returning as Kx’s first Technical Evangelist in November 2018. Within her role, Rebecca is responsible for actively promoting Kx Technology both with our existing clients and externally to new prospects and the wider tech community.

In order to do so, Rebecca engages in numerous initiatives across business levels and has played a major part in revamping the paid Kx training courses, delivering our virtual Kx meetups and on-site coding workshops to educate new users in industry and academia about Kx technology. As a result, Rebecca has established a technical credibility making her a key point of contact for guidance on using the latest features within our technology community.

From a personal perspective, Rebecca is passionate not only about new exciting technology but also about encouraging and showcasing Women in Tech, reflected in her active participation in the FD Women’s Network committee.

At FD we are committed to fostering an inclusive environment where women can thrive, thus we are delighted to see the continued success of our female workforce across various awards this year. From all of us in the FD Family we would like to take this opportunity to extend our congratulations!
