Futures Programme

The Futures programme offers graduates access to a global career right on their doorstep. This programme presents an opportunity for graduates from outside our traditional STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths) degree target pool to fast-track their career in the Financial Technology sector.

We are keen to attract high achievers, with enthusiasm, raw talent and an exceptional work ethic. You will be challenged from your first day, and will be deployed to live projects quickly, based on your performance. A key differentiator with Futures, from our other Graduate programmes, is that you will be based ongoing at our Newry HQ. You will not need to have the same mobility, or location flexibility, but instead can be assured of a long-term career in one local location. Some graduates may seek to be deployed to a major city at some point in the future, and that can be discussed, but will depend on stellar performance throughout the programme.

Software Engineer - Centre of Excellence

"I started in FD in June 2015 for my placement year before returning for a full-time role in 2018 within the Centre of Excellence. I have been fortunate enough to be placed on a project working for a Tier 1 investment bank in HQ, which exposes me to a lot of different aspects. The social aspect of the role is also a massive bonus. I have enjoyed 5-a-side football, the odd Thursday Club and many other social events. Overall FD has been a great experience and has allowed me to further my coding abilities, increase my confidence and gain vast experience in a relatively short space of time.”

"I began my First Derivatives journey in September 2019 having decided to take a break from being a teacher. The main reason for the change was to broaden my knowledge of the Tech industry while also having the opportunity to gain experience in the Finance industry. Luckily the futures program allowed me to see how both sides work together to create the FinTech Industry. Through the Futures Program you live locally and work for the global market. I am based in the Newry office and am currently working for a Tier 1 Investment Bank in FD’s Newry HQ.”
